TMC, the Traffic Message Channel, is a fully mature technology for delivering traffic and travel information to drivers via a "silent" data broadcast channel (e.g. FM RDS, DAB, DVB or satellite).

TMC Services, both public and commercial, are now operating in many European countries. Already, several million navigation systems with TMC have been sold in Europe.

TMC messages are delivered directly to the driver moments after an incident occurs. A TMC-enabled navigation system offers dynamic route guidance - finding the driver an alternative route to avoid traffic problems.
